Yuzu is currently undergoing a nationwide tour "YUZU ARENA TOUR2011 2-NI-×FUTARI", they suddenly held a free live event at Sendai City Square on May 3 as an alternate event for the Sendai concert which was cancelled due to the East Japan Great Earthquake.
Yuzu has had visited Sendai on many occasions for tours and campaigns. Following the cancellation of the Sendai concert, Yujin Kitagawa was thinking of ways "to help the disaster areas in some way", and visited the Tohoku area in late June with the staff to search for a place to hold a live performance. With the hope to be able to deliver songs to the fans and people in the Tohoku region who had been looking forward to the Sendai concert, they decided to hold the free live on the same day as the original scheduled concert on May 3rd.
The two members of Yuzu appeared in several radio programs in the Sendai area during the morning of the scheduled live concert, and announced the free live performances in the programs. People who heard of the Yuzu live on the radio gradually appeared one after another at the Sendai City Square, the venue of the live performance, and the place was packed full in one hour with 3000 fans.
When Yuzu appeared at the square, they energetically came on stage saying "We came to see you!". The venue had almost no sound facilities, and Yuzu sang a total of 9 songs including popular hit pieces and their most recent single "Hey Wa" with just two acoustic guitars and their voices.
The 9 songs which were performed was a set list which Kitagawa and Koji Iwasawa together selected "with the hope to communicate their feelings". After the live, they said "It felt like we went back to the origin of the street lives, singing into the sky. We were really happy to see the audience smile. It was a happy time."
