MAY’S

The music made piece by piece is all about trivial things regarding “love”
 
------It was a “Release Rush” last year.
 [Maiko Katagiri] That’s right (laughing). There're about 10 titles, including single of course, online delivery, guest performing and produce. The impression of last year is nonstop working. Thanks to that, it brought me into contact with the fans of wide different generation. I realized that the live show record has exceeded 100!
[Junichi Kawai a.k.a. NAUGHTY BO-Z] But you can’t say it’s a hard time, on the contrary I enjoyed a lot. We have a theme for our activities, which is “we want all the people in Japan know about MAY'S”. So in this year we're going to present MAY'S further for those who have met us before.
[Maiko] Every time when we were having the live show, I realized that “people love us”. That was pretty inspirational.
 
------You have been clinging so much to the theme of “love” in this album, it's even superior to the first album <Dreaming> which is kind of a self-introduction.
 [Maiko] That’s right. After the release, I had a very strong feeling when I met the fans that I want to make the music that cheer up these people who listened to me. It’s not only that we want make them feel happy, but also we hope our music more or less makes their lives happy and move on. I’m sorry that those words are kind of arrogant, but I just came to know how happy I was that our music becomes the accent of everyone’s life. So in order to make more people feel the same way, we’re making the music piece by piece all based on trivial things regarding “love”.
 
Amorous can be a nice accent !?
 
------The lyrics make you feel the same way from your heart and I listened to this song with all my feelings devoted from beginning to end.
 [NAUGHTY] I completely understand that (laughing). The lyrics Maiko writes are becoming straight year by year. In addition to the lyrics, the sound also becomes simple. It’s especially emoted in the last single <Eien>. The world view doesn’t become great for the sound only, but the effect of the lyrics make it even greater. I also nod when I listen to this song (laughing).
 
------You have been always writing various songs about love, does the sense of love have changed since your debut?
 [Maiko] It has changed. I usually felt hard before, and most of the lyrics were sentimental. However, striding over that sadness, I found the important part in small things. When you fall in love, “each small piece of happiness” is great stuff, but unfortunately most of the time it’s ignored. That’s why I had so strong feeling that I want to sing with this theme because I’m the one who deliver the message by singing. Now it’s the time to achieve that mission.
[NAUGHTY] I’ve also changed the sense of love. Maybe because of the age I become simple, and I understand more about myself, so sometimes I know I have to quit (laughing). But what doesn't change is the amorous nature.
I will be moved very easily.
Whether she is a convenient shop assistance or a person waiting for a signal…
[Maiko] You’re really always falling in love (laughing). At the moment a person is falling in love, he doesn’t see anything else, but if you’re next to NAUGHTY, you always see something. Well, it’s nice that this kind of feeling has become as an accent in the music (laughing).
