-----I heard that the single <Namida (Tears)> was made during this tour.
[Moriyama] It was presented in the national tour other than CD release. The music was supposed to be brought up during the live, and the translation of the music deepened during the experience of the tour, so gradually you under “this was how the music came into being” by continuing singing. <Namida (Tears)> seems to be the cosmos of this music during the tour… We don’t know where does the tear come and where will it go, actually we can’t determine whether it’s good or bad to have tears. This was what we found when we were singing. Actually you can’t find the answers in the song. We just let that kind of feeling to be heard in our song and that kind of thinking does hide somewhere in our mind isn’t it? Just like we don’t know why we were born, where we go after we’re dead, one day we will find that we’re singing just because we want to express ourselves. Because you know if someday I lie or do something false while I’m still singing this song, it will totally become meaningless. However when my imagination is expanding even further or my heart is in peace, I must be very happy while I am describing this song. During this tour, <Namida (Tears)> was surprisingly grown up. So I finally considered and said to myself, why not release this song? It’s supposed to be put out.
------After I listened to the 3 songs, what I felt is that the single clearly reflects something inside of you.
[Moriyama] I think…maybe that is all about it. If you ask me to give an answer with Yes or Not, I will say Yes. This song doesn’t give you an answer, and it’s not an empathy song either, it probably let you hear your own voice from it. If someone could imagine something and feels it’s interesting, that person is an interesting one, however if someone thinks it’s boring at the beginning, I think he just has a very different value of life. So this is the song that doesn’t take sides.
Want to represent the song that got matured during the live pure and simple
------So the 3 songs, do they have something in common?
[Moriyama] First of all, it’s similar to that one I made together with KITE OKACHIMACHI almost at the same time of now. And then <Hitorigoto> and <Beranda de Niji wo Mita> were both created during the live. <Beranda de Niji wo Mita> was the first one we sing at the live. Actually (as a single track) we prepare another one, the reason we chose this one was that we want to reflect in the single what we have created during the live.
------That’s why the tour title “how far you can go/Dokomade Saibuni Narerudarou” appears in the lyrics right?
[Moriyama] That was the vertical poem written by Okachimachi, so I took a line of it to use as the title, just make it feels like Poetry Reading.
------I found the 3 songs somehow are related, that’s why I asked whether they have something in common. Like “My heart is ruled by the affection/Mune ha Kanzyou ni Sihaisare” in the lyrics <Beranda de Niji wo Mita>, while <Hitorigoto> makes you feel thrilled once you listen to it. That is to say it’s true that we’re ruled by our affection, so <Namida/Tears> makes you think where does the tear come? I think the tear itself contains someone’s affection.
[Moriyama] I want to say that it is a song of high degree of difficulty for me to express both of <Namida/Tears> and <Hitorigoto> in an ideal way even my heart stays still. However I do consider during the live. Which is “what exactly do you want to present?”. Maybe you want to tell the feeling of thinking about someone, hope it be like this, hope someone finds you here, there’re so many motivations, but time after time you may get nothing. Generally speaking, what I do during the tour is to make everything possible to let people feel that they’re living beings before they can realize they’re human beings and let them go back to the origin, no matter of the gender, difference in age, their nationality, even our positions as well as whether I am a singer or not. Of course there’re many subjective factors in that, so it doesn’t mean you’re always totally in blank. Even though part of you may have weakness, pleasure, anger, sorrow, joy or teasing action, but first of all you can’t give up yourself as a living being. That is what <Namida/Tears> and <Hitorigoto> tries to remind you those motivations.
I’m a straight guy who relies on feeling
------It’s really narrowed down to the cell level…
[Moriyama] Really? If it does go that far I may not bear, I just stop here (laughing).
-----Okachimachi wrote “about the cosmos” in his blog, I’m sure those who make the same thing put vector of their hearts in the same direction.
[Moriyama] I’m the one relying on feeling, but he’s a very carful person who will destroy the music because of the number of the words. But if you look into it, you may find he is more relying on feelings instead. In my case, you will be surprised to find that if I can’t see the theory to support the things, I feel unsecured. In this point we’re different type of person, so when we’re in the same space, we more we talk the more agreeable to each other’s saying.
------So you always have many things to talk about.
[Moriyama] Yeah, although most of the time I am sleeping. When he is talking I just pretend that I’m listening, and I only have to answer with “that’s true” (laughing).
