Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA)/CJ Mark Committee performed disclosure activities of total 3,578 with local government supervision organization in Hong Kong, China and Taiwan from Jan. 2005 when the activities began to April 2007, confiscated about 374PCS DVD, VCD, CD of movie, anime, music and game, and arrested 1,242 criminals (68 of them were judged guilty in Hong Kong).During the period, total 24 seminars on how to distinguish features of goods and pirates　copies were held for persons in charge of local supervision organizations in 13 main cities of China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and more than 2,000 persons in charge of local supervision organizations improve their understanding to pirates copies of Japan Content and way of distinguishing. Take a recent case for example, Hong Kong court judged 3 Japan Content pirates copies manufacturers guilty and sentenced them to imprisonment of 73 months (6 years and one month) on 28th, May 2007.This case happened in Jan. 2006 when Hong Kong Custom performed disclosure to pirates’ copies manufacturing facilities located in Kowloon Hong Kong, and there were 144 copying machines, more than 75,000 discs of pirates’ copies including Japan Content confiscated and 11 criminals were arrested.

The judgment for infringement of copyright is the second severe since past, and for CJ mark enterprise related is the most severe. And it has been judged that the left 8 criminals will be sentenced to 16-22months.And the disclosure with cooperation of local supervision organizations was performed against 15 cyber cafes that has kept illegal files of Japan Content on their LAN server and make users to browse by March, 2007 in China mainland.
In June, 2006, CODA published its mid-and-long term vision and raised activity goals before 2010 and 2015.In this term we are engaged in 1) Reinforce lobbying activities through Legal System Committee 2) Reinforce investigation through CJ Mark Committee as the first step to achieve the goal.

Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA) was established on 2nd, August, 2002, by which copyright organizations concerned, content industries attempt to promote enterprise overseas actively, mean while as a non-government organization for implementing pirate copies solution overseas, the Agency for Cultural Affairs and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry may appeal to the parties concerned. Its main activities also include inviting domestic and international specialists such as content organizations/companies concerned, supervision organizations, and lawyers as lecturers to give seminars as well as PR concerning all kinds of pirate copies solution and information exchange between members.And rights exercising by use of CJ Mark, verification of oversea copyright regulations concerned are also under implementation.Further more, CODA is also engaged in the activities of International Intellectual Property Protection Forum (IIPPF) which is organized by Japanese industry gathering the type of industry crossing, and makes a statement of opinion to Chinese government (National Copyright Administration of the People’s Republic of China)　in order to solve oversea infringement of intellectual property right.

CJ Mark (Content Oversea Distribution Mark) It’s a mark on Japanese content which is a way of pirate copies solution.After applying for CJ Mark registration in the legal goods distribution area (Asian countries), the pirate copies will be disclosed for infringement of Trade Mark Right according to Trade Mark Right.The purpose is to carry out infrastructure completion of Japanese content and works distribution promotion.
